Marseille were the only French club to win the title before PSG: they beat AC Milan 1-0 in the 1993 final, captained by Didier Deschamps, the sole major European title in French football until PSG's arrival more than three decades later. That same year, the club was embroiled in a domestic match-fixing scandal (the 'VA-OM affair') that cost them their league title and an administrative relegation, though UEFA ruled it didn't affect the European title, which they kept. They play at the Stade Vélodrome.
