Flamengo are Brazilian football's most successful club in the competition, with 4 titles. The first came in 1981 with Zico starring in a win over Cobreloa. The second, in 2019, was one of the most dramatic finals ever: Gabriel Barbosa scored twice in stoppage time to beat defending champions River Plate 2-1. In 2025 they got revenge on the only side ever to beat them in a final (Palmeiras, 2021), winning 1-0 in Lima on a Danilo goal to become the first Brazilian club with four titles.
