Cruzeiro won their two titles in 1976 and 1997, and were also runners-up in 2009, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Estudiantes de La Plata. They are one of Minas Gerais' historically strongest clubs, playing their home games at Belo Horizonte's giant Mineirão.
