Founded in 1889 as Central Argentine Railway Club, Rosario Central reached the semifinals in 1975 and 2001 — the latter their best-ever run, after eliminating Cobreloa and América de Cali on a penalty shootout still remembered in Rosario, before falling to Mexico's Cruz Azul.
